On July 27, 2018 in Bitola, the Council for Development of the Pelagonija Planning Region held its 9th Session. Besides the mayors from the Pelagonija region, the session was attended by Ms. Louisa Winton, Permanent Representative of the United Nations in the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Biljana Cvetanovska Gugoska – Project Manager at UNDP and Mr. Ramiz Rexhepi – Director of the Bureau for Regional Development.
In addition to the current items on the agenda was the item for the UNDP grant scheme for support of the centers for development of the planning regions through which in each region will be realized one regional project that will be important for all municipalities. This grant scheme is implemented by UNDP within the project for “Promotion of Municipal Governance”, which is funded by the European Union, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Self-Government of the Republic of Macedonia.
The members of the Council for Development of the Pelagonija planning region unanimously decided to use the financial support from this scheme to work regionally with inter-municipal cooperation to solve the problem of stray dogs in all municipalities of the Pelagonija region. This would resolve the alarming situation with stray dogs in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with legal measures and provisions.
