The number of primary schools in 2013 in the Pelagonija region is 174 and represents 17.61% of the total number of primary schools in the Republic of Macedonia, which in absolute terms is by far the largest compared to other regions. The number of enrolled students in primary education is quite high and in the academic year 2012\/2013 it was 19,875. The number of students per teacher is 10 and is a favorable data in terms of the quality of teaching.<\/p>\n

The number of high schools in 2013 in the Pelagonija region is 17 and represents 15.04% of the total number of high schools in the country and is also the largest in the Republic of Macedonia. The number of enrolled students is quite high and in the academic year 2012\/2013 it was 9,991. The number of students per teacher is 11 and is a favorable data in terms of quality.<\/p>\n

The number of enrolled (available data until 2011) and graduates in 2013 in the comparative analysis indicates the positive trend in the Pelagonija region in terms of higher education. According to population estimates for 2013 and the number of graduates per 1000 inhabitants, the Pelagonija region is in second place after the Skopje region. The fact that there are so many graduates is mainly due to the fact that in the Pelagonija region there is a University in the very center of the region, as well as the proximity of the two largest urban centers with the densest percentage of population.<\/p>\n

Non-formal education takes place through the participation of various types of courses organized by the workers’ universities in Bitola and Prilep, as well as in appropriate schools organized by the non-governmental sector and centers for learning foreign languages. Also, the Employment Centers within the Employment Agency of Macedonia organize courses for learning foreign languages, computers, as well as for retraining and retraining of workers. For the young population, on-line courses are especially used to develop their skills and abilities.<\/p>\n

Non-formal education also takes place in private language schools as well as other private institutions that offer vocational training.<\/p>\n
